“Sunset in our place is sunrise in another. Death shortens our life on earth but sweetens our way to heaven”
“Death for the Salesian is made bright by the hope of entering into the joy of his Lord and when it happens that a salesian dies working for the souls, the congregation has won great Triumph”
Dear Fathers, sisters, staff of Don Bosco School and friends,
It is with a heavy heart that we have gathered here as a Bosconian family to bid adieu to the mortal remains of our dear and beloved Fr. Abong. Dear Father, though we know that death is an inevitable reality and there is nothing more certain than death yet your untimely passing away has created a vacuum and emptiness that nothing will ever fill. The joyful memories that you have left behind us will ever linger on in our hearts forever. We will always miss your joyful presence as one of the boys remarked saying that you were the happiest Priest he had ever seen. We will truly miss you humorous jokes, your lively sermons, goodnight talks, friendly advice and corrections. You were a wonderful person to have around, always full of life, bubbling with ideas and jokes that seemed to prop up out of nowhere. You always had the uncanny ability to see the lighter side of life even in the harshest of moments. Your ability to act out and dramatize sermons and talks always added life and joy to the liturgy. You were truly blessed with variety of gifts of both head and heart that appealed to all especially the young people. Like a “Fiddler on the Roof”, You were a keen observer of life around. You made laugh and at times made us cry and moan at the vagaries of life. You spoke from the heart and that’s why you touched us and made us grow. You were undoubtedly one of the best musicians, singer and actor in the entire Salesian province of Guwahati. You were a multifaceted personality and multi-talented Salesian Priest. Your untimely demise is an irreplaceable loss to all of us. Yet we surrender and bow before the infinite and inscrutable wisdom of Our Lord.
When we lose a loved one here on earth, we gain an angel in heaven that watches over us. We take comfort in knowing that we have an angel in you in heaven to watch over us, to intercede for us and prepare a place for us in Heaven.
Adieu dear Fr. Abong, we will ever miss you – you were indeed one of the rarest kind!!!! Adieu Dear Father till we meet at Jesus’ feet!!!
